Fluorite

Fluorite is a halide, or one of the minerals composed of metals with the halogen elements fluorine, chlorine, bromine, and iodine. It is transparent and translucent with many ranging from purple to clear. It is a soft mineral and is used as a flux in making steel. Fluorescence, luminescent light which appears under ultra-violet light, was first discovered with fluorite.
